my darling little sister

some pictures of the cutest baby I know, and I am not being biased, every day we go out, someone tells us she is!!

meeting her grandma

So I am pretty sure Addy is one of the world's happiest babies! She loves to jabber and scream and is just hilarious. I love being her big sister! She still doesn't sleep hardly at all but she's getting better. She has gained a total of four lbs in three weeks putting her in at a whopping 11 lbs!!! She loves to cuddle and talk. I love to give her kisses. She is absolutely in love with sweet potatoes and as i type has them on her ear, hair, nose and eye lid. Mommy isn't a very good cleaner. She is getting more used to the dogs but still prefers her mommy and sissy to them. She met her grandma and great aunt this weekend and was a huge hit, apparently she's even cuter than I was as a baby. No matter what, even with an ear infection, she always has a smile ready for me and I love her so much it is unbelievable! I can't even remember life without her, though I do miss getting 10 hours of sleep a night. She is the most gorgeous baby I have ever seen in the world and she knows it. She loves to look in the mirror especially when we make funny faces. She does really well going out places, though it has been pretty cold so we mainly just hang out at home. She has progressed so much its amazing she can sit up by herself for almost 10 seconds. Okay its bottle time now so more pictures and fun stuff later!!!

home home home

We are home! we got in yesterday and are all suffering a severe case of jetlag. Addis is wonderful, we took her to the dr. today and she has gained about 2 lbs. since we met her 14 days ago!!! She eats nonstop and is a very happy baby when her belly is full. She loves to talk and smile and play with her big sister. She especially loves her mommy though! Already she has made a lot of improvements, she can hold her head up, maintain eye contact, smile and giggle, talk ALOT, tell the difference between the two of us and imitate noises. She has some catching up to do but she is doing great!!! Here is a picture of her on her first plane ride, a 17 hour one at that!

Update 4

It is a little better with (formerly known as Fitty), she is eating and slept about 5 hours last night. not consecutively, but still... The care givers do care about the kids/babies, they do the best they can I think, given what their is to work with. The care center is nice and clean. Maybe keeping the sick babies in another room, which shim's brother set up yesterday will help.

Update 3

Well I am sorry for the lack of information.

Communication has been hard and I have thought very hard about what to post.

Grace has been in and out of the hospital with Fitsum. Fitsum has had respiratory, fever, and a intestinal infection. Fitsum was released from the hospital and then last night readmitted. The last email I got from Grace was that when Grace had Fitty home she only slept for an hour at a time and only in Graces arms. She couldn't suck from a bottle and only drank from a syringe. Grace was having to take her to the medical facility twice daily for antibiotic shots. This was very difficult for her, she took Fitty back to a new hospital, a children's hospital, closer to the guest house. Fitty was readmitted and diagnosed with malnourishment. Grace has been consumed with Fitsum's care and has only gone to one restaurant, the store once for formula and to see Genevieve one time, other than that she has been at the hospital and taking care of Fitty. The family she is traveling with says that there is a lot of down time and the kids get overwhelmed easy as they have really never ventured out of the orphanage. Miranda was able to visit with Genevieve and she is warming up to them. Genvieve is a doll apparently and steals the show at the orphanage she is staying at. Also Grace picked a name for Fitty, but I am going to keep you in suspense as I think that should be her news to share. I like it, very cute and it fits her.

Update 2,

Well as Grace puts it, "Things are different here than I expected"

Grace got to meet Fitsum for the first time at the hospital. They have given her a list of things that poor little Fitty has. She is tiny and very weak right now, but she has 24/7 care and Grace to comfort her. The doctors from what I understand want to release her soon and they say she is responding to treatment. Grace is hoping to get her released and moved to a different hosptial, a newer one. In between taking care of her own baby Grace is visiting various orphanages and helping our own cordinator with a few things. I will keep you posted.

Update 1, They made it!!

We got in very late last night, like 1030 pm. We were starving and Helen and her staff made us a very nice small meal of pasta. Everyone here at the House os so friendly! As far as I can tell, I will stay here again!
We are waiting for the word about when we will be picked up and taken to Faith House and see the babies and kids. We are not waiting patiently!!!!
Grace

So they made it there and the rest of us are just waiting as well to hear any other news. Grace has been the girl we go to so we all feel very connected to her adoption experience. She has helped each one of us with ours. We are indeed like a family.
